The Oswegatchie River access site at Inlet, is a major cartop boat launch site for the River that opens up some extraordinary paddling opportunities along the Oswegatchie,  and to some excellent fishing holes in the heart of the Forever wild

"Five Ponds Wilderness Area".

The river has a gentle current for most of the paddle, but in small locations it does tend to get a bit tough under the right conditions.

 

With so much to explore from this River Access location, take comfort in knowing That there is also ample camping along the river.

from tenting sites to lean-to locations. You can certainly use this River route to access

"High Rock",

or venture even further in the

"Five Ponds Wilderness Area"

and make the paddle to

"High Falls"

With numerous oxbows in the river, the trip is recommended at a 2-3 day excursion to High Falls and back out. 

 

 

Trailhead Location:

 

Locate Inlet Road just east of Star Lake off NYS Route 3. Continue driving down Inlet Road to its end.
