This Lost Pond "lollipop loop trail" is currently being developed, set for opening in the Spring 2015. It is being constructed by the Towns of Clifton and Fine as well as the NYS DEC.
Upon opening the trail will follow the "Cranberry 50 trail" for roughly 0.75 miles to a point where the Lost Pond Trail will leave.
The trail will follow through an amazing open forest of conifers to a boreal shoreline that will loop around the pond. As an interpretive trail, be sure to grab a brochure to follow along.
Lost Pond is a wonderful back-country hidden gem, where great blue herons and osprey have been known to nest. In the spring and summer, the wildflowers are bloomed to perfection.
Trailhead Location:
From the intersection of Route 3 and Columbian Road follow Columbian Road for 0.5 miles to the State Boat Launch Trailer Parking on the right hand side. The trailhead for the Cranberry 50 and Lost Pond are located there.
Trail uses: Hike, Snowshoe, XC Ski, Birding
